lj is almost a wasteland since the mass exodus to facebook.

i'm hoping it's just a passing fancy and that people will eventually come back.

what my post means, in a JOKING manner (really, i have no facebook bombs everybody!)
is that i wish it would go away.

lj is turning into a wasteland, that is true. i've tried to poke around from time to time to look for people with similar interests and have done ok with that, but right now it is the die-hards, or nobody.

in addition to facebook, lj is also going down the toilet. if i had not been here for a long time, i would never join this place. i tried to use this platform in one of my classes last year so that students could post their images, and talk about photography online. and boy, did it SUCK.

worst thing, is the advertisements.
and the worst ads are the ones that pop up and that will not allow you to view the site until you've viewed the ad.

the reason why lj will continue to die a slow death is that for reasons like this, there will never be any influx of new people. with no new people, things die.

facebook is a shitty replacement for lj because there is no substance there at all. it's a series of one-liners for people who want to socialize. sorry, not intereted. i will stay here. eventually i expect i'll be all alone, but i started alone, so that's ok, too.

i've heard unhappiness of adds and whatnot, but since i've had a permanent account for nine years, i haven't been subjected to any of it. i didn't realize it was that bad.

there are other places out there that are very much old-school they way lj used to be.

vox for three or four years, tho i mostly post piccies.
dreamwidth for just over a year, tho i've posted there even less.

in fact, i've just created a damnportlanders community over there on dreamwidth. just because.

but stuff was pissing me off and i deleted mine.

I am not thrilled with FB and their security or lack thereof.

I don't think I will get rid of LJ anytime soon or at all really. Sometimes I write here just for my own self, to keep record of things if you will.

On FB I have a mixed bag of people on there and I just will not go into any deep thoughts on there, not because I want to hide, I just don't think everyone needs to know my business. =)
