interview update:

it went well, but it was for a door to door sales job.

with Schwan's.

you do get one of their cute little trucks (well, *I* think they're cute; they remind me of old-school milk trucks), but there isn't really much driving involved. mostly slinging samples, canvasing assigned neighborhoods.

not up my alley, or experience, but i did say i was interested and would appreciate the opportunity

a flat 32k a year, no commissions involved for this position.
that number prompted me to say hey, i can do this.

but in all reality, i don't think i'm cut out for schmoozing people at their front door.

put me in a darkroom, undisturbed. that's more my style. :D

it was good to at least HAVE an interview, at this point.
i don't expect to hear back from them.

...

hey, it's friday!
they are saying we will see the sun. 70 degrees or so.
it's well past daylight and there are nothing but clouds above.

it IS early, yet.

more coffee? thanks, i think i've had enough for the time being.

We get some items from Schwans. They are really really big on not pressuring their customers for sales. Our lady comes every two weeks, lets me know what is on sale, takes my order, grabs the food, charges my card, and drives away. I can totally see you doing that. Now if it was some big pressure driven sales job, no. But the way it has worked for me has been pretty laid back. I wish you luck!

you've been visited by one of the established route drivers. that would be the position i'd eventually be shooting for, if and when one comes open, which could be at the point i prove to be successful at the cold-call thing, the one who gets a lot of new orders for the route people. then i'd be replacing a driver who isn't quite measuring up to the numbers they'd like to see. i mean, the route people do some sales, but it's mostly seeing if you'd like to try some of the other products. from established customers.

if you see what i mean.

here's the thing...

one: they do have a good product.

two: my interviewer guy absolutely stressed the low pressure approach; they do not approve of high pressure tactics. at all. it's simply friendly, mindful yet decidedly dedicated, follow-up in trying to get new customers.

three: the days are usually long and exhausting, and i have limited energy. that is a real consideration.

that said...

it IS a bit (HA!) out of my comfort zone, but that isn't always a bad thing. it's how we grow and become more than we are at present.
which is why i was serious, and he knew it, that i'd like the opportunity to show what i can do.

there is a hiring process beyond just being chosen as one they choose from the interviews. gotta get past that, first.

thanks for your input!
and for your faith in me. truly. :)

xo

You are quite welcome. I am always here in your corner, rooting for you. Don't forget it :)

Yeah, back in PA I had a Shwans guy that was really high pressure and turned me off completely. When I signed back up here I made sure that it would not happen that way and our driver stressed to me that it is completely against policy to be high pressure like that and she would never do that to me. I appreciate that, and it actually makes me order more :D
