bought it and then gave it away without reading, a long time ago. not planning to see the film. don't care how good it is, there are just some stories i don't want to read or see.

I read this back in 2007. It's not the typical book I would read but I really loved it, still need to see the movie though.

i heard an interview with alice sebold on fresh air when the book first came out. heard a couple more since, replayed and perhaps new interviews?

anyway, the last one being a couple of weeks ago. i finally put it on my library list and it came in. read it all today. i almost never do that. i'm a slow reader, in that i tend to read in "real" time. like watching a movie.
sometimes i can speed it up and still get everything out of it.

it's a precious piece of work.

I loved that book. Written beautifully and I remember being very affected as I read the very last of it. I haven't looked at it since, though.

i've meant to pick it up probably half a dozen times but just couldn't bring myself to be subjected to the sorrow of it all.

i finally did. i am glad of it.
