wondering if there are ANY positive reviews of The Lovely Bones

guess it's a stinker, as was Blindness

what a shame that a wonderful story cannot find someone to tell it on film

I enjoyed Blindness, although I have no doubt that the book was much much better.

i couldn't wrap my mind around what it would look like to someone who hadn't read the book. seemed...like wrong choices were made in what and how to show the story unfold.

cool that you liked the film version of the story :)

well, we went to see The Lovely Bones at the $4.00 matinee this weekend and all i can say is "THANKS FOR FUCKING UP A GREAT GRITTY BOOK".

Blindness didn't seem quite so outrageously tampered with. But Bones, my god, they even changed the ending. everything. and all that hokey heaven shit. i thought i would die. no wait. i NEVER wanted to die, if i had to go to that My Little Pony land - NEVER.

the book was (given the nature of the horror) a sweet, tender, graceful telling. i read it all yesterday. i was in tears a good deal of it.

i will still see the movie, but i'm already pissed at how jackson made his decisions on what to show and what not to.

did you have a nice weekend, otherwise? :)

xo

I have picked up the book and put it down many times, not even totally knowing what it was about; now that they've made it into movie (and I've seen the trailer) I know I'm not up for reading it, no matter how well written. I'm somewhat comforted to know that the movie version is bad and changed, though, I really couldn't figure out from the film why the book would be so popular.

yeah, we had a greatish weekend, as always. very calm and pleasant.
thank god we only had to pay $4/each for that film, though. man...
the poet had not read the book, so could not take the same offense i did.

you'll see...

XO!

Yeah, the book is far wonder-fuller. But Stanley Tucci was really good and you can watch it online *nudge-nudge-wink-wink*
