he's retiring the first of the year, was going to leave jan, feb, march or whatever, but his work misunderstood and hired someone to replace him at the end of november, when he will collect unemployment for a couple of months. he just found out about this yesterday afternoon.

it caught him off guard, it caught me off guard, it changed the already loose plans. he may stay through december. neither of us knows wtf is going to happen at this point.

but he wants to move out, perhaps stay for (almost?) free at his BIL's house until he sets off for the east coast/family/friends, perhaps calif? probably not to return to portland. but do we ever know anything for sure?

yeah, and i'm not sure he was entirely clear with them as to his plans. he was sort of throwing out possible scenarios, with the sure thing being he is retiring. i think they didn't want to be caught unprepared. or it may have been a true misunderstanding. i don't know.

i was going to have to face this eventually anyway, i just thought i had more time to prepare.

I really don't do winging it very well. *hugs more* I hope this winging it works out in your favor. Can he give you a clear cut answer to when he won't be paying rent/living there so you can start to look for someone to replace him?

ugh, that's a terrible situation. Maybe he could help you fix up a few things before he goes so finding another roomie would be a little easier??

he's decided to hang around until mid-december, and that is huge in the department of me being able to make my mortgage payments for the next couple of months at least.
