applying for another driving job this morning that i don't especially want and that i most assuredly won't get. what in the world is it i am meant to do at this stage in life? i am clueless.
yes, it is. quite. i'm winging it like never before (at least in my adult adult life)
yeah, a truck. because i'm sixty fucking years old with a sketchy back. and no one's shown even the slightest interest, as in i haven't even had an interview from any of the driving jobs i've applied for.
i have had ONE sit-down interview since Nov 2, 2009. one. it was for Schwan's and it was more of a sales/delivery job than an actual driving job.
i'm burnt out on driving after 15 years of it. the knot in my neck has finally gone away. i don't want it back.
pretty much all of that.
i'ma hopeful that playing music will at least point me somewhere or provide some sort of opportunity somewhere.
I know how you feel about not being "marketable" -I have the same feelings about my age making me less desirable and I'm 54. But it's true, employers want to hire younger workers.
So do you think you'd like driving if it were more varied? I mean, what about a cab? then you'd get to talk to psychos sassy riders all day long, shoot the shit and such.
the arts are really hard to find a niche in...but I personally think that your age and history work FOR you in the kewlness department. So the music fans certainly will be happy to see you doing your thang!
