quickie update...
the 2GB of RAM i installed the other day wasn't recognized by the MACHINE*
and so that left only half the amount of original RAM and so
slooooooooow
but then and so yesterday i went to the mac store and purchased the proper 2GB stick
and installed it and OMFG everything is fast and normal and even better than normal
so, whew
no need for new 'puter or hard drive atm
i am stoked, bub
