I remember 5th grade :D it was the year I took up playing trumpet in school because they didn't have a guitar for me. Louis Armstrong was the inspiration for the choice of trumpet.
Well, you have to understand that I took up the trumpet in 1961 and I was the first of the TV generation of kids and Louis was TV friendly and popular and safe; was on all kinds of variety/talk/music shows. Miles was none of these. I didn't even know who Miles was until I was a teenager and had stopped playing. I wonder what I would have thought of him as my 11 year old self? I think I would have dug him.
